First, we will take a look at the highest possible score the current code of points allows. Afterwards, lets take a look at the highest recorded scores in Olympic history.
Theoretical Maximum Possible Score
To summarize our article on scoring in men’s gymnastics, a score is composed of a D-Score, for difficulty, and an E-Score for execution. So to achieve the highest possible score, we need to take a look at the theoretical max values for both difficulty and execution.
The E-Score is simple. Because it always starts at a 10.0 before deductions, a perfectly executed routine would result in a 10.0 max E-Score.
The D-Score is trickier however. The code of points defines difficulty values for skills on each event. Each event has a different number of skills at different difficulty values, so the highest possible D-Score on each event is different. However, floor has the potential for the highest possible difficulty score, with the most H, I, and J elements. A breakdown of the highest possible D-Score on Floor:
